School Bag and Supply Kits

Compassion Takes Action’s school kit drive started with the desire to bring the children of Bangladesh and the Rohingya Refugees simple tools to spark their learning and creativity. Each school kit included a sturdy, hand-sewn bag or backpack that held two notebooks, pencils, a pencil sharpener, crayons or colored pencils, and a ruler. Groups and individuals from all over the United States (Massachusetts, Utah, California, Arizona, and Florida) spent hours sewing bags, while local Boston schools and families helped secure the supplies to fill those bags. After months of work, Compassion Takes Action collected over 500 school kits. In February 2020, Compassion Takes Action traveled to Bangladesh and personally delivered each school kit to Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazaar and orphans and poverty-stricken children in Dhaka and the surrounding villages.
